Impression Obsession...TAG You're It!

This is my entry for Impression Obsession's Challenge is "Tag...You're It!"

Using a watercolor tag, I used distress ink to add some color in hopes to accent...NOT overwhelm...the beautiful Hydrangea die from IO. My jury is still out on whether or not I accomplished this.

I made the hydrangea petals by running the petal part of the die about 4 or 5 times, then shaped and colored the petals. I cut an extra leaf because it seemed to balance better. I stamped the sentiment,  tied the ribbon and called it a day. I MIGHT have spent way too much time on the petals, but I was jamming out to 70's and 80's music on iTunes, so I didn't really notice.

Off to more stamping!!

The Card Concept HOL19 "O Christmas Tree"

(Original picture size at bottom of post)

I'm so GLAD the holidays are over and I can get back on some semblance of a schedule! Now that things are slowing down, I can get back to my challenges. The Card Concept challenge is asking for your favorite holiday card you created or a picture of your Christmas tree. There is artistry in both. So, I'm posting a picture of my Christmas tree.

I've created an Asian theme tree with a Japanese antique umbrella ($42 Ebay) at the top and backed with 2 old Japanese silk fans (($16 Ebay). I've used a combination of new and old ornaments. From satin Chinese women and men from the 1940's (16 ornaments for $22 and that includes shipping from etsy) to a glass Japanese temple I found at a cheapie Christmas tourist store at the Outer Banks ($8). I've used old handheld fans (one which was given to me by my Aunt when I was 8...I'm 51 now!! Picked them up here and there at thrift and antique stores...none were more than $5) at various points nestled in the tree and paper lanterns on wooden kabob sticks sticking out from the sides LOL

I found lots of butterflies to clip on the tree from Pier One. The garland is from Michaels.

I included the prices because I want you to know that if you are interested in building a theme tree (I'm starting a circus one for next year!) start now and take your time and you can do it for less money than you think!

There's also STILL time for you to enter YOUR tree or card at the Card Concept challenge...just click on the picture below:

You've got until the 6th!

Freshly Made Sketches....Here's hoping they don't ban me from the competition for life

I have no idea how I feel about this card. I made the sunflower with my McGill punches and used my Tim Holtz On the Edge die for the bottom. The sunflower is big but it's quite pretty. I just don't know how the rest of this came together. SO...here's hoping my 'creation' isn't too difficult to deal with...I barely made the deadline and have been really been in a slump lately. Oh well...I'm just going to keep moving on!!

Mark's Finest Paper inspiration Challenge 'Wild Fashions'

Boy, did I have the right stamp for this challenge, huh? I used my Copics to color this wonderful butterfly dress. The sentiment was one I stumbled across on EBay and the label die is from Verve.

Wedding Roses

I started by embossing only one side...I love the juxtaposition of the smooth and the embossed. To me, the smooth side begins to look like a stage!

I used Cuttlebug Paper Lace 2 EF on SU! Whisper White. I used a Spellbinders die as the 'frame' for the SU! Love & Laughter Wedding Dress, which is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and fussy cut. 3 small roses from MFT small rose die and some greenery cut from Martha Stewart Evergreen Punch, which I glued using Glossy Accents, gave me the pop of color I wanted. Everything is popped up on mounting tape (which I have an addiction to and my life has become unmanageable (just practicing-heh heh) I'm entering this in Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge to 'Emboss It!'

Getting Krafty with SCS!

Splitcoast Stampers Try a New Technique

Today was use kraft paper, white emboss image and use waterbrush and ink to color. I began by using my while gel pen to create a frame on the Kraft paper. After white embossing my PSX roses stamp, I used my waterbrush and Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Worn Lipstick, Festive Berries, Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint. I used a stamp from SU! Thank You Kindly set and cut the sentiment with MFT labels die. I also used SU! Raspberry Ripple to mount the design. A green embellishment finishes it off.
